Upper Sixth A Level Drama student Beni has had an exciting year with the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT), taking part in their brand-new production Dare to Dream.
Beni, who played the White Witch in last year’s fantastic production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, successfully auditioned for the NYMT project last year. The production debuted this summer at a specially constructed outdoor venue in Birmingham.
“I played the role of a senior imagineer, a character who inspires a youth centre to explore their dreams,” explains Beni. “The process began with auditions over a year ago and included a residential week over Easter to develop the show with the cast and creative team. Performing in Birmingham was a brilliant experience, but the residential was a real highlight – making friendships and creating something unique together.”
The Disney-inspired production, which forms part of the Crescendo project, will see a final performance in Manchester in October 2025.
Beni’s passion for theatre continues to flourish at Trinity. As she finalises UCAS applications to study English, she is also preparing to take on the role of Miss Adelaide in the upcoming whole-school production of the much-loved musical Guys and Dolls.
Reflecting on her journey, Beni adds: “Past Trinity, I plan to stay heavily involved in theatre and performance projects, including NYMT. For now, I’m excited to be part of Guys and Dolls and to continue developing as a performer.”
