Nineteen Trinity students travelled to Dresden, Germany in late December for a memorable international choir tour, performing three concerts to packed and enthusiastic audiences across the region.
The Choir shared its atmospheric ‘Trinity Christmas’ programme in churches in Cunewalde, Schwarzenberg and in the heart of Dresden itself. Featuring music by Benjamin Britten, John Rutter and Michael Praetorius, alongside much-loved Christmas carols, the concerts were warmly received, with around 2,300 people attending across the three performances. Audience participation was very much encouraged, with carols sung with energy and festive spirit!

Choir Director Mr Mulroy reflected on the impact of the tour, saying, “The response from audiences was rapturous. To see churches full and people so engaged with the music was incredibly special for the students and staff alike.”
Beyond the concerts, the trip offered rich cultural experiences. Students visited the home of the world-famous Dresden Kreuzchor, renewing friendships formed earlier in the year during the ambitious Requiem A project. There was also time to explore the city’s famous Christmas markets, enjoy generous dining auf Deutsch and take part in several competitive football matches, where, as Mr Mulroy noted, “enthusiasm comfortably outweighed technique.”
For many students, the highlight was the sense of togetherness across year groups. “It was tremendously gratifying to see students from all parts of the School singing and socialising together, representing Trinity with such maturity and distinction,” Mr Mulroy added.
Plans are already underway for a return visit to Germany in 2027, building on the success of this tour and Trinity’s growing international musical connections.
