Congratulations to three members of the Trinity Boys Choir who have just returned to school following six performances of Mozart’s opera ‘The Magic Flute’ at the spectacular Palau de les Arts in Valencia.

First Year Joshua, Xavier and Leighton started rehearsals in early May and have enjoyed a busy six weeks of music making, sight-seeing and schoolwork, including, of course, taking their end of year exams.

‘The Magic Flute’ is the most performed and popular opera in the western world. It has a challenging role for three boys who sing at four key points in the story; they sing in three-part harmony across a wide vocal range and all this demands excellent musicianship and concentration.

Trinity Boys Choir has been providing three trios for performances this term at Glyndebourne as well as the Palau de les Arts in Valencia.

Joshua, Xavier and Leighton received excellent reviews for their performances including:

Pedro Valbuena from Operaworld said, “The three wise boys, and there are three of them, from the Trinity Boys Choir, sang with great elegance, and I don’t know how they do it, but English children sing in a special way, which even affects their own natural timbre. Against all odds, they did not miss a single note.” [from translation]

José M. Irurzun, Seen and Heard International, said, “The Three Boys (here old men) who belong to the Trinity Boys Choir…were excellent”.
