During the summer term, the library team paid tribute to departing assistant librarian Mr Jackson, by dedicating an area to him. The Jackson Shelf is a place to celebrate and showcase stories, books, graphic novels and poems created by the student body.

While working at Trinity, Mr Jackson finished writing his debut novel and showed it to some of our regular library users, chapter by chapter. This led to great inspiration within the student body and, with encouragement from Mr Jackson and Teacher of English Miss Sher, many students began to write and produce their own fantastic creative works.

This movement sparked the idea for a dedicated space in the library to display this original work, and this has grown into a society called PAGE (Publishing At Genuine Excellence) which will officially launch during autumn term.

During this new club, students will be able to write and share their own stories, and learn how to bind them into proper books. The library team has invested in bookbinding resources so students can learn new skills and see their works properly displayed to the whole community.

The Jackson Shelf has already had a number of manuscripts on display, and we hope this is the start of a new passion for students, one they can pursue at home and develop at school.

Mr Jackson is continuing to write and is hoping to have his debut novel published soon.

With thanks to Mx Peers, Assistant Librarian, for this story.

Also launching in autumn term is the new Trinity Schools Book Awards (TSBA) which encourages students to discover new authors from a set list of books. Students can then write reviews or produce creative responses as part of a competition among the Trinity Schools, with winners being invited to a meet the author event before Easter. The theme for 2026 is ‘Dreams and Nightmares’…!
