Coinciding with Trinity’s Lunar New Year celebrations, the Chinese Department took a group of Third Year students up to the British Museum to view the Silk Roads Exhibition.
The Silk Road was a network of Eurasian trade routes, active from the second century BCE until the mid-15th century. The exhibition explores how the overlapping networks linked communities across Asia, Africa and Europe, from East Asia to Britain, and from Scandinavia to Madagascar and the impact this had on shaping cultures and histories.
Third Year student Harith tells us all about it:
“The Chinese trip group had 41 members, excluding teachers, and we left straight after morning form time. The day was filled with the perfect mix of education and entertainment, with students given the independence to explore the exhibition, and later the rest of the museum, to complete tasks.

“The visit ended in Tofu Vegan, Charlotte Street, where everybody was provided with delicious foods, before taking the underground to Farringdon, followed by a train to East Croydon and finally a bus back to Trinity, all by 3.30pm.
“In my opinion, the trip was extremely enlightening as well as entertaining, and time well spent, but if you don’t believe me, here are what some other students said:
“All in all, the Chinese trip was a great success and a very enjoyable experience for all involved!”

With thanks to Harith for his report.
