Well done and congratulations to Fourth Year student Jack, who along with a team from his Scout group, took on the historic  ‘Southern 50 Challenge‘. The event, which is run by the Greater London North Scout County, is held annually and is in its 46th year of competition. The navigation event sees teams tackle either 30km, 50km, or 50-mile routes across the Chiltern Countryside.

There were a record number of participants this year, with 120 teams and 485 participants, coming from all over England.

Jack and his team, the ‘Sea Horses Dream Team’ from Pinewood Seahorses ESU took on the 50km challenge, with the start and finish held at Princes Risborough School in Buckinghamshire. The race was incredibly tight, with teams running over tough terrain with a total elevation gain of 1200 metres. Jack’s team was the fastest all-under-18 team to complete the challenge in 8h 38m 03s, just seconds behind the runners up and putting them in third place overall out of 59 teams.

The team and Jack did amazingly well, showing strength and enthusiasm throughout the competition, they embodied the Scouting values of teamwork, resilience, and positivity.

Mr Kimmins, Head of Fourth Year, praised Jack’s efforts and said it was “a fantastic achievement.”

Congratulations Jack an incredible triumph, and something to be so proud of!
