Eight eager members of staff were joined by a Trinity ski trip record of sixty-eight even more enthusiastic students who set out to conquer the slopes of Pas de la Casa, Andorra.
We were very kindly gifted with heavy snowfall overnight and during our first day of skiing. While this created some challenging conditions, even for our more experienced skiers, our beginners showed real resilience, persevering through whatever was thrown at them and perhaps appreciating the slightly softer landings the fresh snow provided. The initial challenge paid off, as the following days brought freshly groomed pistes and blue skies, offering some truly fantastic skiing conditions.
Whether students were complete beginners or seasoned alpine enthusiasts, everyone had the opportunity to develop their skills under the guidance of the brilliant ski instructors. Our beginners had the satisfaction of progressing from the flatter blue slopes to the slightly steeper red slopes. Whilst our experienced group had the opportunity to explore the resort and refine their technique with what black slopes were available, as well as the many jumps and powdery runs beside the slopes.
Away from the undulating slopes of Pas de la Casa, students also enjoyed a range of fantastic evening activities. These included bowling and swimming, alongside the occasional warming hot chocolate in a local restaurant and time spent socialising around the hotel pool table. Both students and staff also took the opportunity to explore the local shops, with many completing some last-minute Christmas shopping.
Every student and member of staff was an absolute joy and privilege to be with, making the trip truly unforgettable. The support and encouragement shown across all year groups was phenomenal, creating an atmosphere in which not only skiing skills flourished, but friendships too.
Students had a fantastic time, commenting:
“I couldn’t believe my improvement in skiing, I started as a complete beginner and got to a point where I could comfortably ski with control and try new skills – it was amazing!”
“The trip was amazing, it was a great place to go with incredible views from the resort. The ski runs and the drive were amazing, and the ski instructors took us to explore the region and took us out of our comfort zone.”
“It was my first international trip and a nice way to say farewell to Mr Richards, so overall a great trip.”
“The trip was really fun, being with my friends abroad and finding loads of cheap snacks that are also pretty rare in the UK.”
“My favourite part was making more friends, as I spoke to people I had never spoke to before from different year groups.”
