Trinity is delighted to welcome acclaimed playwright and Olivier Award winner Jessie Swale to the school next week to see our production of Blue Stockings.

Jessica wrote Blue Stockings, which premiered at Shakespeare’s Globe in 2013 and won her an Evening Standard Most Promising Playwright nomination, and remains one of the most powerful and popular plays about women’s education and ambition. Her visit makes this year’s Trinity production especially exciting for our cast and audience alike.

Jessica will take part in an exclusive pre-show Q&A session on opening night at 6.15pm, hosted by Lower Sixth students James and Sapphy, ahead of the performance at 7.00pm.

Assistant Director James says of the opportunity to perform the play in front of its playwright, “this is both terrifying really exciting”. Lower Sixth student Olivia, who plays one of the girls studying at Cambridge, agrees, “I just hope we do the play justice! Or that we are able to do something new with a character that Jessica perhaps hasn’t thought of before.”

Jessica has also enjoyed major recent success for her work on the much-loved Paddington The Musical, which triumphed at the 2026 WhatsOnStage Awards, winning nine awards including Best New Musical.

Adding to the celebrations, Trinity First Year student Anton recently won the inaugural WhatsOnStage Award for Best Child Performance, making this a particularly special moment for the Trinity community.

There is still time to book tickets for Blue Stockings, which runs from 19–21 March. Find out more and book here: https://www.trinity-school.org/events/sixth-form-drama-production-blue-stockings/
