Congratulations to all Junior, First, Second and Third Year students who completed the annual Mob Run last week. This is a fantastic interform fun run and a great start to the year, especially for new students, where every runner counts towards their form’s ranking. It’s a supportive atmosphere, where students cheer each other on, and staff from across the school jog alongside students or cheer from the sidelines.
Although we do award medals to the students who cross the line in first, second and third place, the emphasis is on everybody joining in and completing the distance together. This is a key event that supports our ‘sport for all’ ethos, which encourages participation early on and often leads to students finding a passion or skill in a sport they have never tried before.
This year’s results are as follows:
Junior Year
The winning form was JT and the top 3 runners were:
Mr Coma, Head of the Junior Year, said, “Congratulations to all J Bugs for completing their first Mob Run at Trinity, and particular recognition to our speedy medalists! However, what is special about this run is the taking part and team spirit. It was wonderful to see the boys cheer each other over the finish line and it was a good warm up for their activity trip to the Boetius Centre this week!”
First Year
Miss Crawford, Head of First Year, said, “Congratulations to all the students who took part in the Mob Run! You’ve shown amazing energy and team spirit. A special shout-out to Form 1D for being the top-performing group and the winners of the race. Your hard work and determination have paid off. Keep striving for greatness!”
Second Year
For the second year, the winning form was 2S, and this was taking into account the position of every student that took part.
The top 3 individuals were:
Mr Savile, Head of Second Year, says, “The Mob Run is a great community event and the highlight for me is that it rewards the effort of everyone, no matter how much they love running (or not!).”
Third Year
The winning form this year was 3R – congratulations to them and to the three fastest runners:
Mr Kimmins, Head of Third Year, said, “It was so pleasing to see so many Third Years pushing themselves in their final ever Mob Run, although the first interform competition they have completed in their new forms. What pleased me the most was seeing boys push themselves individually to beat their place from last year, but also understanding the importance of how it affected their team. Overall, an outstanding afternoon and the bar has been set very high for the rest of the year!”
