Trinity’s 1st XI Girls football team made history this week, securing their first ever National Cup victory in the ISFA U18 Girls Shield with a superb 3–1 win over New Hall School.

The match, held on Wednesday, marked not only the team’s first fixture together but also the school’s first competitive appearance in the ISFA Girls Shield competition, and the first win! The squad’s excitement was clear from the start, with team spirit running high on the journey to Essex.

“The energy on the minibus carried straight onto the pitch,” said coach Ms Mardon. “From smiles and laughter to the girls hyping each other up with music before kick-off, it was a joy to see.”

Trinity opened the scoring early, when Olivia O fired a stunning shot from the edge of the box after slick teamwork from Sophie C and Rosie LG. A smart tap-in from Rosie in the 29th minute doubled the lead, and Sophie M sealed the victory with a well-timed finish in the second half.

A special mention goes to Chloe W, who stepped up to take on goalkeeping duties for the team’s debut fixture.

“I am super proud of all the girls,” said Ms Mardon. “They’ve worked incredibly hard and shown such togetherness already. We can’t wait for the next round.”

The girls will now face either Mill Hill & Belmont or Cranford School in the second round.

Meanwhile, Trinity’s 1st XI Boys side enjoyed success of their own, beating Bryanston 7–1 in the ISFA Boodles Cup second round. The boys will travel to Bradfield College for their third-round match.

Well done to all.
