This week the school was alive with colour, music, and creativity for our annual Culture and Diversity Week. The week kicked off with our first-ever Culture and Diversity Fair, where students and staff came together to share and celebrate the many cultures represented in our community through food, music, dance, language and creative expression.

Visitors to the fair enjoyed a vibrant mix of activities. The Language Zone offered insights into Turkish, Italian, Hungarian, Luxembourgish and Afrikaans, while the Henna Stall was busy with intricate designs expertly drawn by talented Sixth Form students. The Food and Festivals table treated everyone to tasters of specialty dishes from across the globe including Asia, Orkney, Africa and Ireland.

Creativity was also on show with the Art Corner, where students produced postcards reflecting their identity and heritage, before pinning them to the wall and traditional music filled the hall with songs that hold meaning for our students and staff.

Head Librarian Mrs Chevalier, the first ever female lead of the Westminster Morris Dancers, brought the tradition to life with a lively demonstration at the fair. She said, “Morris dancing is all about joy and connection. I loved seeing students give it a go and realise how fun it can be.”

As well as dedicated societies running throughout and a world food menu available through the student dining room (thanks to the catering staff!), the week concluded on with Cultural Dress Day, a joyous celebration of individuality and unity through heritage. Students embraced the chance to wear clothing meaningful to their culture, creating a colourful and uplifting finale to a week of education and community spirit.
