18-times winner of Trombonist of the Year in the British Jazz Awards, Mark Nightingale is an internationally acclaimed soloist, highly respect composer, and one of the UK’s most in-demand studio musicians. He’s (almost) literally played with everyone! Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Steely Dan, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Henry Mancini, Tina Turner and Peggy Lee are just a small selection of the big names that Mark has recorded or played with. Add in jazz greats such as Ray Brown, Jeff Hamilton, James Morrison, Cleo Laine, Lee Konitz, Scott Hamilton and Kenny Wheeler, and the wealth of experience and calibre of Mark’s playing becomes clear.
Backing Mark are drummer, Matt Skelton (John Wilson Orchestra, BBC Big Band, Gregory Porter, Stacey Kent) and pianist, Robin Aspland (Arturo Sandoval, Van Morrison, Georgie Fame, Ronnie Scott). Completing the line-up is Trinity’s own Joe Pettitt on bass.
As ever, our Jazz Club kicks off with a support slot from the phenomenal Trinity Jazz Collective. Vocals for the evening are courtesy of the fabulous Leo Jemison.
The evening will be held in the Sixth Form Centre where there will also be a cash bar. Entry is £15.00 for adults, non Trinity students (U18) £5.00 and free for Trinity students and staff. Tickets are available via Try Booking.
