This week, eight Second Former students attended the regional heat of the Kids’ Lit Quiz at King’s College School, Wimbledon.
In this annual literature competition, teams of four students, aged 10 to 13, work together to answer wide-ranging literary questions. Joseph Birch, Max Carter, Zach Downey, Stepan Dyakonov, Shayaan Imtiazi, Jamie Khandke, Finn Larsen Pugh and Tom Willmer represented Trinity and spent the afternoon answering challenging questions.
King’s House A Team scooped first place and a trip to the final, but both our teams put in a strong performance, with our A team coming 6th and the B team coming 8th, a great result given there were approximately 40 teams.
The boys grappled with over a hundred questions on topics ranging from Books in books, Death, Colours, Roald Dahl and Scientists.
There was a chance to meet authors Mark Robson, Lindsey Barraclough, Josh Lacey, Jim Carrington, Lily Murray (Suzanna Davidson) and Elizabeth Corr. As well as the quiz questions there were competitions for the audience and participants’ – congratulations to Mr Lydon and Ms Parlain who both won book tokens.
Jamie Khandke commented “It was nice to look at the bigger picture of reading”, whilst Shayan Imtiazi said “I really enjoyed the quiz and the atmosphere was very friendly, it was a great experience.”
Well done to all.
