Professor Dr Mo Jalie [OT 1957], has been awarded an honorary doctorate by The University of Ulster in recognition of his services to optometry.
Mo has been a visiting Professor to the University since 1998 and has held a number of key positions, including the first chairman of the Faculty of Dispensing Opticians, the first chairman of the Academic Committee of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians and a member of the GOC Overseas Qualifications Committee.
Mo has published more than 250 papers on ophthalmic optics and is the author of eight highly regarded textbooks on ophthalmic lenses and dispensing.
Commenting on his Doctorate, Mo said: “It is strange to be rewarded for doing nothing more than researching the area that you love!”
