Meet our very own ‘Captain Tom’!

During Trinity School’s summer fundraising campaign, David Picksley, who left Trinity School in 1951, pledged to complete the Virtual 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 3rd October 2021 to raise funds for the Trinity Bursary Fund.

David, who will just shy of 90 years old when he takes part, has been training hard since February. He ran marathons in his fifties and sixties and is confident he can complete the marathon within the 24-hour limit – albeit at a walking pace with the aid of his stick.

“I want to help make it possible for students from BAME, low-socio-economic backgrounds and those with disabilities to enjoy the great benefits the school offers,” he says.

We are thrilled that David has committed to this magnificent challenge and hope our community will be able to support him in his endeavours. If you would like to donate please click here.

Trinity School’s Bursary Fund enables academically gifted students from disadvantaged backgrounds to benefit from an outstanding education and all the extra-curricular activities offered by the school. Trinity’s ambition is to supplement the bursaries awarded by the John Whitgift Foundation to enable 1 in every 5 Trinity students to be supported by a bursary. By donating to David’s incredible challenge, you will be contributing to changing a young person’s life, forever.
