Last weekend, we were delighted to host and participate in the 2023 History Bee and Bowl of London. Part of the International History Bee and Bowl (IHBB), the event was a regional round comprising of two academic quiz competitions with a History focus. For anyone not in the know, the Bee is for individual students, the Bowl is for teams.
Trinity competed against students from Eton College, Farnham Heath End School, City of London School and City of London Freeman’s School in a full day of History quizzes.
Thirty of our students answered a multitude of questions on a variety of topics as far ranging as Ancient Greece and the Kingdom of Mali, to the American revolutionary war, Titanic and the Aztecs. As well as having excellent knowledge they also needed to be the first on the buzzer with their answers!
The History Bowl had seven rounds, including the finals and the History Bee had four rounds in total.
In the end three out of six of our teams played in the Bowl Semi Finals against stiff opposition. The final scores were: Eton came first in all three age categories. Our Trinity E team of First Year students came 2nd place and the Trinity B team of Lower Sixth Formers came in 3rd for their respective age groups.
Congratulations goes to First Years Haris, Max, Giovanni, Oliver and Micah. Also, to Lower Sixth students Thomas, Tanay, Frederick and Thomas.
A special mention also goes to Micah who came 2nd place in the History Bee competition.
All the Trinity students who took part in the competition should be commended for their resilience and sportsmanship. Well done!
Last year the competition was held online, and 12 Trinity students took part, competing against students from all over Europe. Then Third Year student Jirka successfully beat everyone in his category, emerging as the Middle School winner. See here for previous story: LINK.
