Sixth Form student shares ‘Quarantine 101’ tips to survive lockdown.

Stella Fisher took the initiative during lockdown and prepared a presentation to share her learnings and tips with friends and the wider school community. She stresses the benefits of regular exercise, creative endeavours, finding new perspectives from reading, and even the popular video app, Tik Tok, in her guide.

How to survive quarantine 101 is full of insights into the life of a student suddenly faced with the cancellation of A-levels and increased uncertainty around the future.

The idea for her presentation came about after many conversations with friends.

“When they told me how they were struggling with this huge change in their life, I felt like I had to do something to help,” she explains. “I found it difficult to go from living my day-to-day life and preparing for my A-Levels to suddenly having everything I was looking forward to cancelled.

“As we started to approach our sixth week in quarantine, I realised that I was getting more and more anxious and frustrated with the situation, so I decided to make this guide and share the things that I have done to keep myself sane during lockdown.

“Quarantine has been difficult for most people and I thought if I shared what I have been doing to pass the time, someone out there could find some comfort in it.”

Stella also points out that the book that she has enjoyed reading the most during this time, has been This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay, which she thought it was really relevant to the current situation. In the future, she hopes to work for the NHS.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, Stella.
