In December, three of our Upper Sixth Form students – Varun Ravikumar, George Ogden and Joel Cuttle – achieved top Golds in Round 1 of the British Physics Olympiad, placing them in the top 150 students in the country. In the second round of the competition – a gruelling three-hour paper, designed to test stamina, determination and resilience, as well as knowledge of Physics – Varun achieved a Bronze award, George a Silver and Joel a Gold award.
Joel also sat the British Astronomy & Astrophysics Olympiad (BAAO) paper at the end of January. His impressive performance which placed him in the top 12 students nationally.
“It is likely that Joel will be invited to take part in the national team selection camp during the Easter holidays, where students compete for a place on the national Physics team,” says Mr Flanagan.
Good luck to Joel!
