We were delighted that internationally renowned organist David Briggs accepted our invitation to perform at our recent Organ Recital concert.
This was a special event where we welcomed donors and supporters of our Trinity Organ Project, alumni, parents and staff to mark the official inauguration of our new Wyvern Organ.
David delivered a perfectly showcased performance, demonstrating the outstanding wealth and breadth of the organ, with masterful performances of Bach, Gustav Mahler, and Widor, and a memorable performance of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, which had the whole audience humming and toe tapping.
The second half of the evening included an improvisation to the Charlie Chaplain film The Immigrant. The audience, both young and old, were captivated. After a dedication of the organ by Reverend Canon Dr A Bishop, we were treated to an electrifying finale of Hubert Parry’s I Was Glad sung by the massed choir of alumni, parents, students and staff.
This collaborative celebration was a triumph, and testament to the huge efforts of the Trinity community.
Well done and thank you to all involved.
