A film by Upper Sixth student Fintan O’ Connor has been selected to appear at the Everyman Cinema Horror and Sci-Fi Fesitval.
Fintan submitted his film The Observatory to the Crystal Palace International Film Festival last year, as part of the ‘Croydon Rising Star’ scheme.
The film, set in a dystopian future and featuring a young man being chased and watched by mysterious forces, was accepted by the festival for the Horror and Sci-Fi night on the 16 March at the Everyman Cinema in Crystal Palace.
Fintan said: “It was a surreal experience to see the film projected on such a big screen, especially among other shorts from professional filmmakers whose work I admire”.
The scheme allows filmmakers between the ages of 16 and 26 the opportunity to have their films screened in front of an audience of film buffs and fellow filmmakers alike, with a cash prize for the winner. The final winners will be selected on 30 March.
