Parent Seminar: Online Safety & Grooming (virtual)

17 September, 6.30- 8.00pm

Parent Seminar: Online Safety

Our parent seminar programme commences with a presentation taking place on the topic of ‘Online Safety’. The seminar will be delivered by the Breck Foundation on Tuesday 17th September 2024 from 6.30 pm until 8.00 pm via Zoom.

Parent and carer talks are a great opportunity to highlight the importance of communication with our children about the dangers they face online every day. This ultimately increases the family’s wellbeing by opening up lines of communication.

These sessions include:

  • Breck’s story
  • Scrapping the stereotypes. Who or what is a groomer, and what are the types of grooming your child may be exposed to?
  • How to have that awkward parent-child conversation, gaining trust and sharing your concerns about online safety.
  • Where to find help – signposts to other useful organisations
  • A showing of Breck’s Last Game

The Breck Foundation was set up in 2014 by Lorin La Fave, in response to the tragic murder of her son, Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old Surrey schoolboy who loved science, computing and gaming. Lorin is determined that no other family should have to go through the same ordeal. The charity now delivers powerful presentations using Breck’s story as an example; last year it reached more than 20,000 students, 4,000 parents and 7,000 safeguarding professionals educating them about the dangers of online grooming to help them educate and empower their children to make better decisions to stay safer online.

We would be delighted to welcome you to this seminar, which we hope will be interesting and informative. It is open to all Trinity School parents and there is no charge, but the events will be ticketed, and you can book your place by clicking on the link below.
