Immediately prior to the half term break, some of our GCSE and A Level Art students took part in an urban sketch workshop, run by the prize-winning artist, Jeanette Barnes.

Mr Robertson, Director of Art, explains: “It was a fantastic experience and our students learnt a great deal about composition and the construction of pictorial space. Jeanette taught them the importance of mark making and how to utilise this tonally in order to create a sense of depth. She also encouraged them to think creatively and with artistic license, challenging them to create their very own cityscapes. Here are some of the exciting results that not only show finished sketches, but the consideration of layering!”
