In Art we nurture curious, creative minds. We study both traditional and contemporary skills, exploring and critiquing the challenging content of the world around us, helping students develop their own, personal visual language.
Students of all year groups will develop skills in drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, digital and graphic design, film making and the use of sound and performance in art. Throughout all year groups, students will be challenged to think philosophically.
We offer a variety of clubs to encourage wider participation in creativity. Trinity News, Photography Club, Film Club, Junior Art Club and Ceramics Club challenge students to engage with different materials and develop their understanding of the media further. Both the Art Society and Film Society host talks and debates from staff, students and visiting speakers allowing student to grow in their knowledge and perceptions of visual art. Our Shaw Gallery is a wonderful resource that encourages students to exhibit their work, alongside invited external artists.
We have strong links with Croydon’s cultural heritage is and regularly work with local artists, galleries and arts charities so that our students understand the impact of creativity in the everyday. The majority of our students that study either Art or Photography at A level go on to their first choice at university or art college.
