Trinity Triathlon was created in 2011 by Trinity School in the run up to the London Olympics in a bid to demonstrate the legacy role of the Games in getting more of Britain’s young people involved in sport.
The event has become a real community occasion with just under 400 girls and boys aged 6-19 competing in 2014, making it one of the biggest of its kind in the UK. Over 100 volunteers from both the School community and Crystal Palace Triathlon Club, the event mentors, are drafted in on the day to ensure the triathlon’s success and the School liaises closely with Transport for London who allow the closure of over one mile of Addiscombe Road, key to the success of the cycling event.
Trinity School was named London Region’s ‘Event of the Year 2013’ by Triathlon England. Steve Trew (former GB coach) and Annie Emmerson (Four times World Duathlon Champion), presented Rob Brookman, Trinity Triathlon Race Organiser with the prestigious trophy at Triathlon England’s awards ceremony held at Twickenham Rowing Club on 2nd November 2013.
Every year the feedback from competitors and families is superb. These are just a few of the comments we received following Trinity Triathlon 2014:
"Full marks for running the biggest ever Trinity Triathlon yesterday. As TESE Junior Series Race Coordinator, Medway Tri club official and a parent I can honestly say that every aspect from registration to results ran to perfection and I wanted to say thank you for making the day so enjoyable for so many people." Dean Painter, Junior Series Race Coordinator, Triathlon England South East
"I just wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful day yesterday at the Triathlon. My son is only 6 and it was his first triathlon. I thought it was extremely well organised. The officials were extremely helpful and looked after the little ones so well, giving them instructions and answering their questions. It was a great introduction to triathlons." Triathlon Parent 2014
"Thank you for a another superbly run triathlon, great job on the weather too!" Trinity Triathlon Parent 2014
"Thank you for a fabulous morning at the Trinity Triathlon. We had a lot of fun and really appreciated the friendly and helpful marshals - and the Tristarts briefing was perfect. The results tracking and delivery was professional and fun. Can't wait for next year!" Trinity Triathlon Parent 2014
