National water polo finals

Trinity Under 19s reached the finals of the English Schools water polo competition as the only unbeaten side. In the semi final against Manchester Grammar, the boys weathered an early storm during which 15 year old Adam Dyer saved a penalty taken by a GB player. Gradually, our strength in depth and our excellent work rate began to tell, so that by the final whistle we had established a 16 - 10 lead.U19 team

The outcome of the final against King Edward`s Birmingham was effectively decided after only 90 seconds when what was essentially a technical decision robbed the team of the services of a key player. Even so, the boys battled heroically, before eventually running out of steam and losing 10 - 12 .

Special mention should be made of leavers Eddie MacDonagh (captain), Will Porritt and Tom Flaherty for giving seven years of loyal service to Trinity polo. David Payne`s goal scoring was sensational, as was Jonny Cannon`s defensive play and Mark Pepper`s work rate. Strength in depth was provided skilfully by Tom Price, James Place, and Dominic Page. Youngsters Adam Dyer and Danny Casey confidently adapted to playing at this level.
