What are the points of entry to Trinity School?
Boys: Year 6 (Junior Form) for age 10+; Year 7 (First Year) for 11+; Year 9 (Third Year) for 13+; and other years in exceptional circumstances.
Boys & Girls: Year 12 (Lower Sixth) for 16+.
What Entrance Examinations do you have?
All boys (10+, 11+, 13+) sit papers in Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning. If they do well they will be invited for an interview. Applications should be with us usually by late November or early December for entry in the following September. The examinations take place in January. Further details HERE.
Sixth Form entry is dependent upon a separate entrance examination. The closing date for applications is usually mid-November each year. Further details HERE.
Can you give any indication of what the pass marks are to your entrance exams?
Successful candidates would usually be children who achieve a Level 5 in their Year 6 SATs.
What languages do boys study?
Boys study Latin and two modern languages (French, German, Spanish, Chinese Mandarin) from Year 7. From Year 9 we offer Ancient Greek.
Do you make any provision for Special Needs pupils?
Trinity endeavours to make any reasonable adjustments to the admissions procedure to enable disabled and other special needs’ candidates to compete for a place at the school without disadvantage. The school has three staff members dedicated to SEN provision. We also welcome pupils with mobility needs.
Does Trinity offer the IB (International Baccalaureate)?
Whilst we regularly review the possibility of the IB, we feel that some of its strengths, for instance its breadth, are also its weaknesses when pupils reluctantly have to study courses which they do not favour. Other elements of the IB, such as Community Service and the extended essay (EPQ), are already built into our Sixth Form programme with all Lower Sixth (Year 12) pupils taking part in a programme of Community Service activities.
We are closely monitoring changes to the A-level course. The fact that the vast majority of our Upper Sixth students achieve their first choice of University lead us to think that the current system is working for our pupils.
What is your scholarship and bursary policy?
All candidates are automatically considered for Academic Scholarships. Additional scholarship applications are submitted for Art & Design, Drama, Music and Sport, and assessments for these scholarships take place in early February, after the entrance exams.

What are your recent exam results?
In 2016, at A level, just over 90% of grades were A*, A or B; 22% of grades were A*s, and just under 60% were A* or A grades. Over 80% of the grades at AS level were awarded at A or B, the first time a year group at the school reached this level. Almost 52% of the results were A grades.
At GCSE 88% of all results were A* or A grades, the highest ever achieved, and a significant improvement on the 78% achieved in 2015. 58% of grades were A*s, also a record. 18 pupils achieved 10 or more A* grades, and 44 pupils achieved 8 or more A* grades.
What are your pupils’ university destinations?

every year. The vast majority of students achieve their first choice of university.
What is the split for pupils from State primary versus Independent Prep Schools?
About 60% of the new boys who join Trinity each September come from State Primary Schools and the remainder from Independent Prep Schools. Trinity boys arrive from a large number and variety of schools and our selection procedure takes this into account. We admit boys from a wide breadth of backgrounds.
Do you arrange transport to Trinity?
While the School is very well served by public transport, we run a number of our own bus routes from Dulwich, Bromley, Beckenham, Oxted, Wandsworth, Sutton, Caterham (for a full list please check our Transport to School page). There are return runs after school where there is demand. We will always look to add new routes where there is a need.
How is your co-educational Sixth Form working?
The co-ed Sixth Form, introduced in September 2011, is now well established and thriving; it welcomes approximately 40 girls each year. We believe it gives us the best of both worlds – retaining the benefits of being a boys’ school up to the age of 16, and then preparing both boys and girls for the realities of university and beyond.
My son really enjoys his sport but is not a high achiever. Will he be able to play for a school team?
We aim to make our sport the very best it can be. Some pupils reach the very highest standard, being selected for county and national teams. However, it is fundamental to our ethos that if a boy is keen then he will be able to play sport and represent the school. In Year 7 we field A, B, C, D and even E teams.
How do you help boys settle in?
We try to make the transition as easy as possible. We hold induction sessions prior to starting, our highly experienced tutor and Heads of Year are on hand to ease the process aided by our Sixth Form Mentors. We also hold residential and activity trips to further friendships and build confidence.
